Effect of Venous Pressure on Mean Capillary Pressure and Vascular Resistance in the Intestine.

چکیده

• It is well known that capillary pressure depends to a considerable degree upon venous pressure. Bayliss and Starling pointed out the importance of this reationship in 1894, but few studies have dealt with its quantitative aspects. Krogh et al. found that capillary filtration in the human forearm was influenced greatly by venous pressure, although changes of the latter were quantitatively less effective than an equivalent change of plasma colloid osmotic pressure. Pappenheimer and SotoRivera" observed with the gravimetric technique applied to the hind limbs of dogs and cats that a pressure change applied from the venous side appeared to be five to ten times more effective in changing capillary pressure than was a similar change of pressure when applied from the arterial side. It appears from their data that approximately 80% of a venous pressure increment is transmitted to the capillaries. In studies of capillary filtration in skin and muscle it is generally assumed that the figure of 80% applies. Folkow et al. have assumed that 85% of the venous pressure increment is transmitted to the capillaries in the intestine.

Modeling and investigating the effect of ultrasound waves pressure on the microbubble oscillation dynamics in microvessels containing an incompressible fluid (Research Article)

Understanding the dynamics of microbubble oscillation in an elastic microvessel is important for the safe and effective applications of ultrasound contrast agents in imaging and therapy. Numerical simulations based on 2D finite element model are performed to investigate the effect of acoustic parameters such as pressure and frequency on the dynamic interaction of the fluid-blood-vessel system. ...

The Effect of Resistance Training on Plasma Levels of Endothelin 1 and Blood Pressure in Older Men

Introduction: Endothelin 1, which is secreted by vascular endothelial cells, has been identified as the most potent vasoconstrictor. The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of a course of endothelin-1 plasma resistance training and its relationship with blood pressure in older men. Methods: In this quasi-experimental study, 30 elderly men (mean age 62.28 ± 8.08 years, height 17...

Longitudinal distribution of vascular resistance in the pulmonary arteries, capillaries, and veins.

A new method has been described for measuring the pressure and resistance to blood flow in the pulmonary arteries, capillaries, and veins. Studies were performed in dog isolated lung lobes perfused at constant flow with blood from a donor dog. Pulmonary artery and vein volume and total lobar blood volume were measured by the ether plethysmograph and dyedilution techniques. The longitudinal dist...

The Effect of an 8-Week Concurrent Training on Plasma Endothelin_1 Level and Blood Pressure of Old Women

Background & Aims: Endothelin_1 secreted by endothelial cells has been identified as the strongest vascular constrictor. The aim of the present study was to investigate the role of concurrent training on plasma concentration of endothelin_1 and its relationship with blood pressure of old women. Methods: A total of 20 menopause women (Mean age: 67.47±5.92 years, mean body length: 152.92±7.52cm, ...
